Monday, November 7: Discuss ATTWN Chapters 11-13. Read 14 and 15 for Wednesday.
Tuesday, November 8: No school - Election Day
Wednesday, November 9: Discuss ATTWN Chapters 14 and 15. Finish the book for Friday.
Thursday, November 10: No Red Ink Grammar website - continue pronoun practice mastery.
Friday, November 11: Final ATTWN discussion. Study for ATTWN final test on Monday.
Week Eleven:
Monday, November 14: ATTWN Test. Introduce To Kill a Mockingbird Historical Context project.
Tuesday, November 15: In-class work with laptops - TKM Historical Context Project
Wednesday, November 16: Continue TKM Historical Context Project
Thursday, November 17: 1/2 Day - Parent Teacher Conferences. College day presentations for all freshmen.
Friday, November 18: Final in-class work day on TKM Historical Context Projects.
Week Twelve:
Monday, November 21: Historical Context Presentations
Tuesday, November 22: Finish historical context presentations
Wednesday, November 23 - Friday, November 25 - NO SCHOOL - Happy Thanksgiving!
Week Thirteen:
Monday, November 28: To Kill a Mockingbird background discussion - Point of View / Optical Illusions
Tuesday, November 29: Begin To Kill a Mockingbird - Read chapter 1 aloud, chapters 2 and 3 for HW
Wednesday, November 30: Small group analysis, chapters 1-3 - find characterization quotes and compare/contrast Alabama schools in the 1930s with Michigan schools in 2016. Read chapters 4 and 5 for HW.
Thursday, December 1: Introduce Synthesis Essay - topic and discrepant texts due Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Discuss important quotes in chapters 4 and 5. Great Depression image analysis. Read 6 and 7 for HW.
Friday, December 2: Are people born inherently good or bad? 60 Minutes video clip; "Can The Law Make us Be Decent"; write brief paragraph explaining whether or not you believe Good Samaritan Laws are necessary. Read chapters 8 and 9 for HW.
Week Fourteen:
Monday, December 5: Discuss chapters 8 and 9. Read 10 and 11 for HW.
Tuesday, December 6: TKM Part I Quiz; begin small group character symbol mini project - due at the end of the hour tomorrow.
Wednesday, December 7: Finish small group character symbol mini project.
Thursday, December 8: Malala Yousafzai speech to the UN. Read chapters 12 and 13 for tomorrow.
Friday, December 9: Discuss chapters 12 and 13. Read 14 and 15 for Monday.
